The Artist Map is located on our website, on ZAPP, and on page 10 of the artist information document. Our standard booth spaces are 10’x10’ squares. Unless otherwise noted or arranged, no additional space is guaranteed to be available around or behind your booth. If you requested additional space around or behind your booth, please confirm with our Event Manager that your assigned booth number has additional space before planning your setup. 6:00 - 9:00 AM
Please go to Bloomington Playwrights Project and Arts Fair on the Square Information to check in, pick up your artist information materials, receive your complimentary coffee and breakfast snack, and be shown to your space. Booth numbers are indicated with numbered cones for the spaces on the street and with numbered flags for the spaces on the grass. Booth edges are marked with chalk on the street and with flags on the grass. Please remember to bring a picture ID with you when you check-in. Check In is available promptly at 6:00 AM at Bloomington Playwrights Project and Arts Fair on the Square Information ONLY. Complimentary coffee is available until noon and breakfast snacks are available while supplies last.
Loading zones are located on Kirkwood Avenue (Fifth Street) and Sixth Street between College Avenue and Walnut Street from 6:00 - 9:00 AM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Both Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Street between College Avenue and Walnut Street will run ONE WAY during Set Up and Teardown. Sixth Street will run East to West ONLY and Kirkwood Avenue will run West to East ONLY. As you park to unload, please do not park in or block any booth spaces. Parking on Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Streets during Set Up and Teardown is reserved for loading and unloading ONLY. You WILL be ticketed and/or towed by the city for failure to move your vehicle out of the loading zone by 9:00 AM in the morning and at 8:00 PM in the evening.
Please park elsewhere AFTER unloading and BEFORE setting up so that other artists may readily access the loading zones. In an effort to make load-in and load-out as smooth as possible, we request that you limit your time in the loading zone to no more than 20 minutes. Vehicles and parking of any kind are not permitted on Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Streets between College Avenue and Walnut Street from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, which includes the hour before, during, and the hour after the fair due to the new water wall barricade set up and teardown and the many pedestrian fairgoers, who tend to arrive early and stay late, anxious to view and purchase your amazing work! Parking on Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Streets between College Avenue and Walnut Street is subject to city parking regulations before 6:00 AM (when Set Up begins) and after 8:00 PM (when Teardown ends).
Please note: City Safety Personnel recently notified us that all road closures now require water wall traffic barricades to ensure the safety of pedestrians walking on the closed sections of the street. We are working with the Bloomington Police and Fire Departments to get more information and arrange for these new safety barricades. If these new water wall barricades will affect the loading zone, unloading and loading, or parking information included in this document in any way, we will notify you as soon as we receive new information.
Parking is available in two downtown parking garages, in metered street spaces throughout downtown, and at the Monroe Convention Center. Please park oversized vehicles in the back side lot at the Monroe Convention Center. Oversized vehicles will NOT fit in the downtown parking garages or metered street spaces.
Metered parking spaces are located throughout downtown and directly around the Courthouse Square. Meters are active from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Saturday. Current meter rate is $1.00 per hour with an added $0.30 convenience fee for payments made with credit cards. The city WILL ticket vehicles with expired meters.
Three parking garages are also located downtown including the 4th Street Garage, Morton Street Garage, and Walnut Street Garage; however, the 4th Street Garage nearest to the fair is currently under construction and unavailable. All parking garages are monitored 24 hours per day 7 days a week. Current garage rate is $0.50 per hour with one hour free.

For more information about downtown Bloomington parking, please go to the city’s parking information site, https://bloomington.in.gov/transportation/parking/downtown.
Arts Fair on the Square and the Bloomington Playwrights Project cannot be held responsible for parking tickets.
Bloomington also has many one-way streets, which can make it a challenging place to navigate if you are new to the area. Please note that College Avenue downtown is one-way heading South and Walnut Street downtown is one-way heading North. Both College Avenue and Walnut Street eventually turn into two-way streets outside of the heart of downtown.
Please see the downtown parking map provided by the City of Bloomington here.
6:00 - 10:00 AM
Please move your vehicle out of the loading zones AFTER unloading and BEFORE setting up in order to make load in and load out as smooth as possible for all participants. Due to an underground sprinkler system on the courthouse lawn, ground stakes are NOT permitted. Please plan on an alternative way to secure your materials. Please be kind to the grass and avoid covering it with any flooring, mats, or rugs. Unfortunately, electricity is not available and generators are not permitted.
Please note: Although set up may continue until the fair begins at 10:00 AM, the loading zone must be clear of all vehicles by 9:00 AM. See unloading section above for more information about the loading zones including times and procedures.
All booths must be attended for the duration of the fair. If you need a break, we have volunteers available to watch your booth. Members of the staff, board, and volunteers will be checking with you throughout the day to see if you need a break or if there is anything else we can do for you. Please come to Bloomington Playwrights Project and Arts Fair on the Square Information or ask a volunteer if you need assistance of any kind. Our staff, board, and volunteers should all be wearing shirts with our logo so will be easy to spot!
5:00 - 7:00 PM Please help us make the teardown and load out process as smooth as possible. Please do not move your vehicle into the loading zone until AFTER your booth is completely packed up and ready to be loaded. Please limit your time in the loading zone as much as possible as we will have many artists in need of the space when you are finished loading your vehicle.
Please note: The loading zone vehicle hours differ from teardown hours due to the new water wall traffic barricade requirement. The water wall traffic barricades will be removed by the Fire Department when the fair ends at 5:00 PM. The loading zone will open for artist vehicle traffic only as soon as the barricades have been cleared and the Fire Department gives us permission to allow vehicles back onto this section of the street, which we expect to be at approximately 6:00 PM. See unloading section above for more information about the loading zones including times and procedures.
Please be aware that Indiana sales tax procedures have recently changed. Each artist is responsible for submitting Indiana State Sales tax, currently 7%. Read about the current Indiana Sales Tax requirements and submission information on the following websites:
Indiana Department of Revenue Tax Page, http://www.in.gov/dor/3335.htm
Indiana New and Small Business Education Center, https://www.in.gov/dor/3939.htm
Most artists are considered sole proprietors and need to complete the Indiana Department of Revenue's Business Tax Application through INBiz, which has replaced the previous BT-1 form. Find out more and register your business at https://inbiz.in.gov/BOS/Home/Index. All Indiana business and tax information can be found through INBiz.
Although we have done our best to include current and updated information, please check to make sure that this information has not changed before applying and submitting your sales taxes.
