6:00 - 9:00 AM
Please go to the Bloomington Playwrights Project Information Tent to check in, pick up your artist information materials, receive your complimentary coffee and breakfast snack, and be shown to your space. Booth numbers are indicated with numbered cones for the spaces on the street and with numbered flags for the spaces on the grass. Booth edges are marked with chalk on the street and with flags on the grass. Please remember to bring a picture ID with you when you check-in. Check in is available promptly at 6:00 AM at the Information Tent ONLY. Complimentary coffee is available until noon and breakfast snacks are available while supplies last.
Loading zones are located on Kirkwood Avenue (5th Street) and Sixth Street between College Avenue and Walnut Street from 6:00 - 9:30 AM and 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Both Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Street between College Avenue and Walnut Street will run ONE WAY during Set Up and Tear Down. Sixth Street will run East to West ONLY and Kirkwood Avenue will run West to East ONLY. As you park to unload, please do not park in or block any booth spaces. Parking on Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Streets is reserved for loading and unloading ONLY. You WILL be ticketed and/or towed by the city for failure to move your vehicle out of the loading zones by 9:30 AM as the loading zones become walking traffic areas promptly at 9:30 AM.
Please park elsewhere AFTER unloading and BEFORE setting up so that other artists may readily access the loading zones. In an effort to make load-in and load-out as smooth as possible, we request that you limit your time in the loading zone to no more than 20 minutes. Parking is NOT permitted on Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Streets between College Avenue and Walnut Street from 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM, immediately before and during the fair due to the many pedestrian fairgoers anxious to view and purchase your amazing work! Parking on Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Streets between College Avenue and Walnut Street is subject to city parking regulations before 6:00 AM (when Set Up begins) and after 7:00 PM (when Tear Down ends).
Free parking is available at the Monroe Convention Center and in the Fourth Street Garage (Garage Art) all day. Please park oversized vehicles in the back lot at the Monroe Convention Center. Oversized vehicles will NOT fit in the downtown parking garages or metered street spaces. Please see the Downtown Bloomington and Parking Map on page 6 for free parking locations.
The Monroe Convention Center is located on College Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets. The Fourth Street Garage is located at the corner of 4th and Walnut Streets one block south of the Courthouse Square across from the John Waldron Arts Center. If parking in the Fourth Street Garage, please do not park in leased spaces. These are reserved for leasees only; you will be ticketed. All other standard parking spaces in the garage are available at no charge on the day of the fair.
Bloomington also has metered parking spaces throughout downtown and directly around the Courthouse Square. Meters are active from 9 AM to 9 PM Monday through Saturday. The city WILL ticket vehicles with expired meters. For more information about Downtown Bloomington parking, please go to Visit Bloomington's parking information site, https://www.visitbloomington.com/make-a-plan/maps-and-transportation/downtown-parking/
Arts Fair on the Square and the Bloomington Playwrights Project cannot be held responsible for parking tickets.>
Bloomington also has many one-way streets, which can make it a challenging place to navigate if you are new to the area. Please note that College Avenue downtown is one-way heading South and Walnut Street downtown is one-way heading North. Both College Avenue and Walnut Street eventually turn into two-way streets outside of the heart of downtown (because doing so makes getting around that much more fun).
6:00 - 10:00 AM
Please move your vehicle out of the loading zones AFTER unloading and BEFORE setting up in order to make load in and load out as smooth as possible for all participants. Due to an underground sprinkler system on the courthouse lawn, ground stakes are NOT PERMITTED. Please plan on an alternative way to secure your tent. Please be kind to the grass and do not cover it with any flooring materials, mats, or rugs. Generators are not permitted. Electricity is unfortunately not available.
All booths must be attended for the duration of the fair. If you need a break, we have volunteers available to watch your booth. Members of the staff, board, and volunteers will be checking with you throughout the day to see if you need a break or if there is anything else we can do for you. Please do not hesitate to come to the Information Tent or flag down a volunteer if you need assistance of any kind.
5:00 - 7:00 PM Please help us make the teardown and load out process as smooth as possible. Please do not move your vehicle into the loading zone until AFTER your booth is completely packed up and ready to be loaded. Please limit your time in the loading zone as much as possible as we will have many artists in need of the space when you are finished loading your vehicle.
We want to be certain that you have a great experience with us. If we have left any questions unanswered or if there is something we can do to make this process easier or better, please feel free to contact us at any time. We truly do listen to your comments and suggestions and use your feedback to make the fair better every year! You can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or (812) 334-1188. We are happy to help.
